Class Descriptions


Edges/Skating Skills - 30 minute class         

This class will be designed to increase the skater’s proficiency in all aspects of skating, including efficient strokes, deep running edges, strength and stability in the upper body. Class will consist of numerous edge, turn and footwork exercises that will increase the skater’s knowledge of basic and advanced skating skills. Classes are modeled after professional companies such as Disney on ice, Willy Bietak productions and Holiday on ice. This will also serve as a PROPER on ice warm up for skaters participating in the morning freestyles.


Edges/Turns - 30 minute class – *VRD IS OFFERING this class* 

This class will be designed with the pre-pre and above skater in mind. The goal is to increase the skater’s proficiency in all aspects of skating including efficient strokes, deep running edges, strength and stability in the upper body. Class will consist of numerous edge, turn and footwork exercises that will increase the skater’s knowledge of basic and advanced skating skills. Classes are modeled after professional companies such as Disney on ice, Willy Bietak productions and Holiday on ice.


JR. PREP / INTRO TO FREESTYLE - 30 MINUTE CLASS - *VRD IS OFFERING THIS CLASS

This class is designed for skaters Basic 7 – Freestyle 3.  This class will continue to work on the Basic 7 & 8 skills from the USFS Basic Skills curriculum as well as beginning freestyle skills (jumps and spins).  The skaters will also be educated on the rules and protocol of freestyle sessions.

  • Please note that the skaters will not be formally tested in this class as they have been in the past. As the skater progresses, they will be moved to the appropriate class.


Performance - 30 minute class -*VRD IS OFFERING THIS CLASS

Wednesday performance class is geared towards developing the skaters artistic and performing aspect of the sport. Emphasis will be on proper line and finishing of skating style, posture, connection with an audience, musical awareness and interpretation. Skaters will also learn choreographed steps and "tricks" that can be used as program transitions.



*All classes will be leveled so participants can work on the skills they need to develop according to their individual skating level
