Junior Coaches

The Skating Club of Vail will classify certain skaters as Junior Coaches when they have reached 16 years of age.  These coaches will have been mentored by an SCV coach on freestyle ice and/or learn to skate and will lead any classes or lessons under the guidance of an SCV coach.  Junior coaches will adhere to the requirements of VRD and/or Mountain Recreation for teaching on their respective ice.

GUEST COACHES

The Skating Club of Vail is happy to welcome visiting coaches to utilize SCV ice under the following conditions:

  • Coaches must provide, 48+ hours in advance, a copy of current USFSA coach registration, current PSA registration, certification of liability insurance naming SCV as additional insured and certificate holder and a current W-9. 

  • SCV coaches sponsoring a visiting coach will be responsible for verifying this information and provide it to the SCV board 48+ hours prior to the visiting coach teaching any lessons.

  • If an SCV Coach is hosting a Guest Coach for the benefit of their students, they will notify the other coaches and the SCV board at least 48 hours prior to insure the proper documents are received, as well as to communicate and resolve any potential impacts this may have on other skaters. 

 Guest coaches may conduct the following on SCV ice:

  •  Seminars and/or classes that are offered to all SCV members. Coaches must provide SCV with a mailing address for any payment, and submit an invoice by the end of the month of service, to ensure timely payment.

  • Conduct lessons provided those lessons do not interfere with regularly scheduled ice activities or lessons. 

    • The number of skaters on contract ice may not exceed 20. 

    • Visiting coaches should check with their SCV contact or Board member to verify numbers prior to scheduling.

Guest coaches are expected to adhere to the USFSA’s Codes of Conduct.

GUEST COACH FEES – Guest coaches will be billed $5/lesson for any private lessons with SCV members and $10/lesson for any private lessons with Non-SCV members.  Payment can be made by cash or check to the Skating Club of Vail.
