Skating Club of Vail Membership Application

VOLUNTEER POLICIES

The Skating Club of Vail relies heavily on the members and parents of skaters to help organize, implement, staff and assist in the many events that the Club puts on each year for the benefits of the members.

A $500.00 fee is required for anyone who does not wish to volunteer based on his or her membership level. Volunteer hours will total 30 each year and the suggested breakdown of hours is noted below:

Vail Invitational:

The Vail Invitational, held each year in July, is the Skating Club of Vail’s primary source of revenue to help offset the cost of contract ice as well as the Holiday Ice Show. It requires help from all members to be a success and each member benefits from this event. If your child is competing in the Vail Invitational you are required to volunteer 15 hours either during the event, for the preparation and tear down. Once the final competition schedule is completed, usually in late June, a volunteer sign-up sheet will be distributed to all parents. Please complete your sign-up early.

Holiday Show

If your child is participating in the holiday show, you will be required to volunteer 15 hours. Areas for volunteer will include set up, costumes, ticket sales, sets & props, lights during dress rehearsal & shows, music monitor and a number of other areas. A volunteer sign up will be sent out in early December.

Other Events:

If your child is not competing at the Vail Invitational or the Holiday show you are asked to make up the required volunteer hours for other events held during the year. This may include, but not be limited to:

Event Chair for:

  • 4th of July Parade
  • Holiday Party & Toy Drive
  • Annual Skate Club Banquet
  • Summer Pool Party
  • Assisting Event Chair’s for the above
  • Assisting the Test Chair for hospitality at quarterly testing events
  • Fundraising activities

Volunteer Sign-up information and sheets will be sent out by the volunteer coordinator periodically throughout the year for these other events. Please contact a board member should you have any questions or are interested in any of the above events.
