The Skating Club of Vail has designed the following conduct rules for its freestyle and moves in the field (MIF) skaters to insure the safety of every skater on the ice.  Deciding to skate on the freestyle and MIF sessions requires that the skater make a commitment to skate safely and exhibit sportsmanship and politeness.

  • The skater whose music is being played ALWAYS has the right of way.

  • The skater who is using the jump harness must always yield to other skaters.

  • Outbursts of temper, poor sportsmanship, profanity, rudeness, kicking the ice, hitting the boards and glass, or other inappropriate behavior by skaters, parents/guardians, or coaches will not be tolerated.

  • Playing games, shadowing other skaters, laying or sitting on the ice is extremely dangerous and will not be tolerated.

  • Do not stand in groups on the ice to talk or watch other skaters.  If you are not going to skate, stand in the boards stand in the penalty boxes or leave the ice.

  • If you must speak to someone in the stands, leave the ice.  Please do not yell or shout into the stands/bleachers.

  • All skaters should follow standard freestyle procedure: jumps in the corners, spins in the center of the ice.  IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE ON THE ICE, YOU MUST ALSO BE AWARE OF OTHER SKATERS ON THE ICE.  Move to the boards to get out of the way of an oncoming skater or stand still if you are unable to get out of the way.

  • There is not roughhousing or horseplay allowed anywhere in the facility.

  • Rudeness to ANY skating professional, skater, parent, rink personnel by skaters, parents/guardians will not be tolerated.  Excessive verbal abuse or harassment can result in the expulsion of the skater, parent or coach from the program and /or rink.

  • Proper skating attire is expected to be worn by all skaters.

The Skating Club of Vail strives to have an atmosphere that is conducive to serious skaters.  Freestyles and MIF are not play periods. They are for skaters dedicated to practicing their skills.  Any board member, coach and rink staff members may reprimand or take disciplinary procedures against a skater who displays inappropriate behavior.

The Skating Club of Vail reserves the right to suspend, expel or deny participation in any program, event, or facility due to violations of its rules and guidelines.  Individuals whose behavior interferes, disrupts the quality of the program, the enjoyment of the program by other participants, or the ability of the staff to conduct or manage the activities of the facility will be expelled from the facility immediately.
