As The Dobson Arena Renovation Nears Completion SCV Will Begin Our Fall Session Exclusively At EPIR. Vail Programming Will Return Beginning Monday, November 9th.

Due to schedule restraints, ice availability, and the final stage of the Dobson Arena renovation, SCV WILL NOT be offering a Fall session of Theater on Ice. We are excited to announce the RETURN of this beloved program for the 2027 Winter Session & 2027 Ice Show!

Previously known as Aspire, SCV Elevate is designed to support skaters progressing from the upper levels of Learn to Skate (Basic 4-6) into US Figure Skating’s Aspire 1-4 Program & Eventually the Pre-Preliminary level. This class offers tailored instruction in small groups to meet each skater where they are. Class topics will vary by week but may include:

• Edges, Turns, & Gliding Moves

• General Skating Skills

• Spins

• Jumps

• Power

• Skater & Freestyle Session Etiquette

Class Structure:

Skaters will be divided into 1-2 groups based on level and skating ability. Some weeks, skaters who are on the cusp of a level may be moved into different groups depending on the specific skill being taught, ensuring the best possible learning environment for everyone.

Prerequisite:

• Successful completion of Learn to Skate Level 4* or higher; OR with approval from a Skating Club of Vail coach.

Please Note: SCV classes are designed to supplement, not replace, Learn to Skate programming. Skaters currently in Basic 4–6 are expected to continue participating in a local Learn to Skate program through Basic 6 and Aspire, including completing the appropriate level testing. • Advanced Edges, Turns, & Gliding Moves

• Combination Spins, Flying Spins, and Advanced Variations

• Single Axel & Double Jumps

• Power

Class Structure:

Skaters will be divided into 1-2 groups based on level and skating ability. Some weeks, skaters who are on the cusp of a level may be moved into different groups depending on the specific skill being taught, ensuring the best possible learning environment for everyone.

Prerequisite:

Successful completion of the following OR with approval from a Skating Club of Vail Coach:

• Preliminary Skating Skills

• Consistent Single Axel Jump

• Spin Combination With All Three Positions (Including Back Spin)

• Approval from a Skating Club of Vail Coach.

Coaches: Gretchen & Tara

Spins, Steps, & Style focuses on developing well-rounded skaters through artistry, movement, musicality, and performance skills. Skaters will work on choreography, transitions, body movement, expression, and connecting elements while learning how to interpret different styles of music and enhance their overall performance quality.

The class will also incorporate dedicated spin development, with an emphasis on proper technique, control, centering, and position quality. Skaters will work through all three basic spin positions (upright, sit, and camel) with exercises tailored to their individual level. Advanced skaters will further develop their spins through difficult positions, variations, combinations, and more advanced spin features.

This class is designed to help skaters become more confident, expressive, and technically well-rounded performers both in their competitive programs and overall skating.

Prerequisite:

• Successful completion of Learn to Skate Basic 6; OR with approval from a Skating Club of Vail Coach.

THEATER ON ICE

Theater on Ice is a high-energy, club-favorite class that blends skating skills with storytelling, choreography, and performance. Skaters learn how to connect movement with music, develop expression and character, and skate as a unified team to bring a theme to life on the ice. Each session culminates in a final performance, giving skaters the exciting opportunity to showcase their hard work for family and friends.

Prerequisite:

• Successful completion of Learn to Skate Level 5 or higher; or with approval of Skating Club of Vail coach
